The Making of the Aurelia Midnight Drops

The Aurelia Midnight Drops were completely handcrafted by me and took approximately four hours to create from beginning to end. These earrings were not made from a mold, machine, or premade frame. I carefully formed their entire structure by hand using gold-filled wire and traditional wire-wrapping techniques.

I began by measuring and shaping the wire into the large outer frames, slowly bending each side until the curves and points created the flowing silhouette I pictured in my mind. I then formed the smaller geometric frames inside, making sure they rested naturally within the larger design while still leaving enough open space to give the earrings their light and elegant appearance.

Creating a matching pair by hand requires a lot of patience. Every curve had to be compared, adjusted, and reshaped so the earrings would look balanced together. Since the wire was formed without a factory-made mold, I had to rely on my hands, tools, and eyes to make each side as close as possible while still allowing the natural character of handmade jewelry to remain.

Once the frames were shaped, I carefully wrapped the connecting points with fine gold-filled wire. Each small wrap was placed and tightened individually to secure the design while also becoming part of its decorative detail. I took my time smoothing the ends and checking every connection so the earrings would be comfortable, secure, and beautifully finished.

The 4 mm black seed pearls were then selected and arranged by hand. Their deep shades of black, charcoal, silver, and blue reminded me of the ocean beneath a midnight sky. I carefully added each pearl to the golden framework, spacing them with small gold accents to create balance and allow their natural luster to stand out.

The most time-consuming part was making sure every wire wrap, pearl, curve, and detail worked together. I made several small adjustments throughout the process until the earrings hung correctly and the design finally felt complete. Nothing was rushed, because I wanted every part to reflect the care and feeling that went into creating them.

The name Aurelia Midnight Drops represents the meeting of golden light and midnight beauty. Aurelia means “golden,” honoring the warm glow of the gold-filled wire, while Midnight reflects the rich, mysterious coloring of the black seed pearls.

These earrings are more than an accessory—they are four hours of patience, creativity, detailed handwork, and love transformed into wearable art. Like every Beyond Blessings Hawaii creation, they are a one-of-a-kind original. Once this pair finds its new home, I will not recreate the exact design again.
